Vfficient After Leaving a Job: Keep the Records and Contacts You Will Need
Before leaving an employer that uses Vfficient, ask how you will obtain your personal employment records afterward. Do not assume that your current access will remain available indefinitely or that it will end immediately. Public provider pages do not establish one post-employment access period for every employer.
The useful preparation is a document list, a verified contact route, and a record of any unresolved issue. That remains valuable even if your portal access continues without interruption.
Identify personal documents you need
Review which pay statements, tax forms, benefit confirmations, and other personal records you are authorized to retain. Use the employer’s approved process to obtain them.
Save documents in a private location and check that the files open correctly. A list of download links is less useful if those links later depend on an account you cannot access.
Keep this limited to your own authorized records. Do not download information about coworkers or unrelated business files as part of preparing to leave.
Confirm how later tax documents will reach you
A tax document may be issued after your last day of work. Ask which contact information and delivery route will be used, and how to request a copy or correction.
Form W-2 has its own purpose as an annual wage and tax statement. Losing portal access does not answer the separate question of how to request it from the responsible employer or payer. IRS Form W-2 information
Use the W-2 guide if a particular year is missing or the information appears incorrect.
List unresolved payroll questions individually
Write down the relevant pay period, amount or entry in question, the person investigating it, and the next action promised.
Keep an outstanding expense reimbursement separate from a disputed wage entry or a missing deposit. Combining them into one total can obscure which process is responsible for each item.
Ask the employer how the remaining payment or correction will be communicated. This article does not assign a universal final-pay deadline; the answer depends on the applicable circumstances and requirements.
For an issued payment that cannot be found, use the missing-pay guide.
Ask benefits questions before relying on continued coverage
Request the relevant coverage dates, administrator contact, and any notices or options that apply to your situation.
Do not infer ongoing coverage from a working login or an older enrollment record. Equally, do not assume that the last day worked is automatically the answer to every benefits question.

The benefits-confirmation guide explains which records to compare.
Resolve the meaning of any remaining leave balance
If unused leave is relevant, retain a dated record and ask how the employer will treat it. Request the applicable explanation rather than assuming that the displayed hours represent a promised payment.
Record any pending adjustment or leave request that affects the figure. A later change may be easier to understand when the starting balance and outstanding items are documented.
Keep the answer separate from your own estimate of value. The employer’s policy and applicable requirements need to be established before any payout conclusion.
Establish a contact that does not depend on workplace access
Ask for the post-employment HR or payroll contact and the information it will need to identify your inquiry securely. Confirm an approved way to update your own contact details where necessary.
If access stops working later, explain that you are a former employee and name the document or unresolved matter. Repeatedly trying to register again may not address the actual issue.
A compact departure record should contain the contact, the documents already obtained, the documents still expected, and the open questions with their next steps. It gives you a practical route back to the information without depending entirely on the account remaining unchanged.
